Summary: An Interesting Look Into Apple
Comment: My Mother-in-law was given a ipod a while back ago. She is not computer literate so she gave me the ipod to download some sermons and music on it. But I have started using it for myself (I will ask for forgiveness later). Apple seems to be on the cutting edge of technology and style. I love the new iphones, but cannot afford one. It seems that apple represents cool and hip these days. This book gives an inside look into the inner workings of Apple. Jobs seems to have multiple issues and control problems, but there is little doubt that he can be creative and run a company. In fact, Apple was dying before he came back on board. When he did, he turned the company around and started making a ton of money again. The reason I read this book was to learn about the image of a company or product. To me, the image of the church is important. One of the major agendas that I have in Waynesboro is to create a positive image of the church in the community. I would love to hear people's thoughts on this concept. The book did not really help with image control, it was more for those who love Apple. But overall it was a interesting book for people wanting to dig deeper into the Apple world.

Summary: Inside Steve Jobs' successes at Apple
Comment: Knowing my bias for all things Apple and my interest in Steve Jobs, a friend and colleague alerted me to this book last week. He was certain I'd appreciate it. He was right.

The book is about the way Steve Jobs thinks, how he operates, how he built Apple, his successes (and mistakes), his stunning innovations, and his most unique approach to the world. But it's a lot more than that. It is a business book full of valuable ideas and insights into one of the hottest companies of our time. In addition to all that the reader will learn implicitly, the book makes it easy by concluding each chapter with a helpful summary list of "Lessons from Steve."

Jobs' success is not a simple formula, and thus deserves a book-length exploration. But here's the crux. Steve Jobs finds the best people, attracts them and, once he has them on board, allows them the freedom to do their best work. At the same time, he demands perfection. He doesn't suffer fools gladly. Known for his abrasiveness, Jobs bisects the world into "geniuses and bozos." He weeds out the bozos.

Collaboration is also central to how Jobs operates. The book compares how Apple approaches product development versus the typical auto company or, more particularly, Sony. At Apple, the design, engineering, manufacturing and marketing teams work side-by-side throughout the development process so there is little chance of miscommunication.

Great book for business people looking to improve the performance of their businesses. Great book for fans of Steve Jobs and Apple.

Summary: Are you new to the Mac? this book just may be for you.
Comment: I would love to give this book 4 stars but... if you are a mac head like me you, or think you are. You will (for the most part) already know just about everything in this book. Now if you are wanting to start a company and would like to learn from one of the best in the world, Jobs is the man. If you have a kindle this book is $9.99 thats the way I got it.

Summary: Quick and fun being in his head
Comment: This was an overall fun, and super fast read. I thoroughly enjoyed the overview we get of what goes on behind the closed doors at Apple. I especially enjoyed the small section on Jonathan Ive. In addition to covering Steve Job's thinking process, we also get small snippets of his closest associates and a good view into the inception of many of Apple's most well known products. I think for me this was what made an interesting read even better.

Summary: Inside look at the growth of a person and how he lead Apple to success.
Comment: This was a very good book that provided an inside look at the way Apple grew with Steve Jobs at the helm. The book provides the leadership skills that Steve uses to motivate, create, and expand sales for Apple. Good and easy read with tips you can use in your professional career.

Editorial Reviews:

Steve Jobs has turned his personality traits into a business philosophy. Here’s how he does it.

It’s hard to believe that one man revolutionized computers in the 1970s and ’80s (with the Apple II and the Mac), animated movies in the 1990s (with Pixar), and digital music in the 2000s (with the iPod and iTunes). No wonder some people worship him like a god. On the other hand, stories of his epic tantrums and general bad behavior are legendary.

Inside Steve’s Brain cuts through the cult of personality that surrounds Jobs to unearth the secrets to his unbelievable results. It reveals the real Steve Jobs—not his heart or his famous temper, but his mind. So what’s really inside Steve’s brain? According to Leander Kahney, who has covered Jobs since the early 1990s, it’s a fascinating bundle of contradictions.

Jobs is an elitist who thinks most people are bozos—but he makes gadgets so easy to use, a bozo can master them.

He’s a mercurial obsessive with a filthy temper—but he forges deep partnerships with creative geniuses like Steve Wozniak, Jonathan Ive, and John Lasseter.

He’s a Buddhist and anti-materialist—but he produces mass-market products in Asian factories, and he promotes them with absolute mastery of the crassest medium, advertising.

In short, Jobs has embraced the traits that some consider flaws—narcissism, perfectionism, the desire for total control—to lead Apple and Pixar to triumph against steep odds. And in the process, he has become a self-made billionaire.

In Inside Steve’s Brain, Kahney distills the principles that guide Jobs as he launches killer products, attracts fanatically loyal customers, and manages some of the world’s most powerful brands.

The result is this unique book about Steve Jobs that is part biography and part leadership guide, and impossible to put down. It gives you a peek inside Steve’s brain, and might even teach you something about how to build your own culture of innovation.
