Customer Rating: Summary: Canon Pixma MX850 Comment: I have 3 complaints about this unit. It is very slow to start up. When the ink gets low you have to push 2 buttons instead of one. The ink is more expensive. These 3 issues are not problems with the earlier PIXMA MP780 I own. Newer units should be improvements not the reverse. I would give the MP780 a 5 star and this one 4 star.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Printer..Better than HP 7310 Comment: I purchased the HP 7310 while I lived in Asia which was my first all-in-one printer. I still use it in my office and thought it was the best printer I had owned, until I purchased this printer. I read the reviews and the printer lives up to the hype. I haven't used all the functions yet and I don't plan on printing photo quality pictures, but I do print in a lot of color for business purposes. It's fantastic. The scanner feeder is much more efficient than my HP and the software that comes with it is very user friendly. It works incredibly well with Adobe professional software. The flatbed scanner is the best I have ever used.
I love the ink cartridges. A little orange light glows when the catridges are inserted properly and the color quality is top notch.
The time to set up the printer was not nearly as bad as some reviews have said. If your computer literate whatsoever, it will take 15 minutes to set it up and have the software on your computer.
The one and only downfall is the size of the printer. WHen you read a review that it's big, it's true..It's HUGE! That being said, the quality of the machine is high end. It's well constructed and all of the moving parts are well made. Considerably better quality than the HP and that's not a knock against HP so much as high praise for canon.
I would recommend this printer to anyone and consider replacing my HP in my office now that it will not recognize ink cartridges. Nice work by Canon.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great printer for the price Comment: I had no problem getting the printer set-up and it works very well, especially for the price. I've tried all the features and have not difficulty getting everything done. The quality is very good so far.
Customer Rating: Summary: No Power Save Function Comment: Although it is "Energy Star" you cannot put the printer to sleep and have it wake up when you need to print. You have to power off to save electricity.
It is an ok printer, fax and scanner. The display instructions could be better. Also, it would be nice to program it through a computer than through the printer's display.
Customer Rating: Summary: Also scans documents into PDF files Comment: I bought a cheap wireless printer and returned because of low quality photos. I then purchased this printer after trying to convince myself it was worth it.
Well it was more then worth it, it is a great printer and its $10 cheaper then what I paid for it.
It not only does great photos, but also will scan my documents into PDF files for indexing by google desktop.
All my stuff is done over my home network which has multiple routers using XP SP2.
I highly recommend this printer

This is an all-in-one powerhouse. Thanks to its patented print head technology and 5-color ink system, you'll create spectacular photos with 9600 x 2400 color dpi resolution1, and fast: a photo lab quality 4" x 6" borderless print takes only about 21 seconds. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and when scanning photos you'll produce impressive 4800-dpi results, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. The built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 35 originals and enables automatic duplexing, so you do not have to wait, and then manually turn over your 2-sided original. This versatile machine is networkable via an Ethernet connection. You can also print photos right from memory cards - selecting and enhancing images on the high-resolution 2.5" color TFT display - or directly from a digital camera.
